Ellen Dog Sweater is a classic knitted sweater for your best friend – made for the cold days when an extra layer is needed. It combines comfort and aesthetics in a timeless design that looks just as good on the sofa as it does on the walk.
Staey is known for quality dog gear, and this sweater meets all expectations.
The sweater is knitted from a soft blend of 80% wool and 20% nylon. The wool keeps your dog warm, while the nylon strengthens the knit so the sweater keeps its shape. It comes in a dark storm grey with espresso brown stripes at the neck and hem, and the Staey monogram is embroidered on the back in the same espresso brown. The ribbed edges at the neck, sleeves and hem keep the sweater close and warm without feeling tight.
The underside is cut shorter, so male dogs can pee without the sweater getting wet.

Ellen Dog Sweater | Storm/Espresso
The story behind it

Why I designed it
Some days Alba does not need a coat – just something warm for the morning walk or a chilly evening at home. I could never find a sweater that felt like something I would actually choose for myself.
So I made Ellen. A classic knit in colours I love, with the kind of small details that make it feel considered – cosy, simple and easy to live with.

What it took to get it right
A knitted sweater has to sit close without feeling tight, so the ribbed edges took some fine-tuning. The neck needed enough give to go over the head easily, and the sleeves and hem had to hold their shape without pinching.
Then came the details. The stripes had to sit in exactly the right places, the underside was cut shorter for male dogs, and the monogram is embroidered.

Why customers love it
It is the kind of sweater you would wear yourself – storm grey, espresso brown stripes and a small embroidered monogram. Classic, understated and never too much.
And it is just as practical as it looks. Warm enough for cold walks, soft enough to wear around the house, and cut shorter underneath so male dogs can pee freely. The one that comes out first when the temperature drops.

My story
Hi, I’m Noa – designer and founder of Staey. I live in Denmark with my dog Alba, and I started Staey because I was tired of choosing between functionality and aesthetics.
Every Staey design starts with real moments from my life with my own Alba. I sketch the first ideas at my kitchen table, and my team and I test, tweak and adjust until it works – for your dog and for you. Because practical can (and should) look beautiful.
