The story behind it
Why I designed it
I created Barkii Soft Stripes because I was tired of choosing between high-value reward treats and healthy ingredients. So many soft, delicious treats on the market are packed with unnecessary fillers, grain, and hidden sugars.
I wanted to develop a treat that dogs would absolutely crave—combining real chicken and savory cheese—while keeping the recipe clean, light, and functional. Soft Stripes were designed to be the ultimate flexible reward: something you can easily break into small training bits on the go or give whole as a well-deserved, guilt-free snack.
What it took to get it right
Getting the perfect texture was our biggest challenge. We wanted a stick that was soft enough to snap effortlessly with one hand during active training, yet firm enough not to turn into a crumbly mess in your pocket or walk bag.
It took endless rounds of testing to hit that exact sweet spot—all while keeping the ingredients 100% natural. We insisted on keeping the recipe grain-free, gluten-free, with no added sugar, and an impressive low fat content of just 2%. Balancing a soft, mouth-watering chicken and cheese treat with such a clean nutrition profile wasn't easy, but we refused to compromise until it was perfect.

My story
Hi, I’m Noa – designer and founder of Staey. I live in Denmark with my dog Alba, and I started Staey because I was tired of choosing between functionality and aesthetics.
Every Staey design starts with real moments from my life with my own Alba. I sketch the first ideas at my kitchen table, and my team and I test, tweak and adjust until it works – for your dog and for you. Because practical can (and should) look beautiful.
